Over the last four years the Geelong group have become a burgeoning force in the Australian punk scene. Their burly, brusque yet supple songs have evolved from the garage rock of 2017’s TV Organs album into the post-punk panic attack of last year’s Company Man EP. Now they’ve sculpted their sound further, the barrage now offset with robust songwriting, their full-pelt bounce tempered with flailing guitar lines and sardonic commentary. Bringing to mind Wire tackling tracks from early 7”s by The Yummy Fur, it’s an inspired approach, both striking and effortlessly mirthful. Vintage Crop still dish-up plenty of commanding stomp, their lyrics remain as keen-eyed as ever, but now they’re unafraid to mess with the tempo and drive their point home.

This here is the (official) bio for Do It Better Again – the second full-length from GONZO. GONZO are a rock band. Gonzo are from Melbourne via Geelong. Do it Better Again is out on long playing vinyl through Anti Fade Records from March 29.GONZO met and formed in the sunny seaside town of Ocean Grove where they all happened to live on the same street. This must have been around 2014 while finishing high school. It was the best of times. This is the follow up to their debut album, Gonzo by Gonzo. This record is better.Do It Better Again was recorded over three days in a Castlemaine stable that was built in 1857, when things were built better. It was recorded and mixed entirely using analogue gear, so it feels better. The first time it touched a computer was in the hot hands of Mikey Young for mastering, so it sounds better too.GONZO aren't punk, indie, shoe-gaze, psych, whatever. GONZO are a rock band. And a real one. GONZO reference classic rock sounds like The Saints, The Victims, Gang of Four, and the Easybeats alongside modern sounds of Thee Oh Sees, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Uranium Club. See for yourself.
‘The Beginning & End Of Cereal Killer” is the band’s first full length album to date and also their last release since 2016’s, “Demo’s EP”. The album was recorded over six weeks of tracking in the famous Geelong studios, “The Barracks”, before calling upon mastermind Mikey Young to sail his yacht across the bay and put his much practised mixing techniques into full effect. The result is mind-blowing.Cereal Killer gained worldwide success in 2016 after their headline performances at Glastonbury and Coachella festivals where they blew away hundred’s of thousands of adorning fans and reached international stardom. The band have not performed since 2018’s Old Bar show on August 17, in which a predicted 7,000 screaming fans crammed into the building. However, rumours of an album launch on August the 3rd this year are emerging, and tickets are predicted to sell out within the first hour of sale.
