Bokeh Versions: ...Watch the Bad Wine video here: youtu.be/Ri1PeDxg05IRDL Shellah (the artist formerly known as RDL) follows up the long sold out pop-grade 2021 Streets 7” produced by Mexico’s riddim queen Smurphy with a full Showcase EP featuring Canadian collective Seekersinternational (SKRS) on the buttons once again.Lead single ‘Bad Wine’ is pure silky-tongued summer heater with a dusty boom-bap soul like a Jamaican take on Anderson Paak and Knxwledge; while the video tells a classic ‘where is my boyfriend’ story that’s as old as time. RDL Shellah has been part of I Jahbar’s Roolingz Musik collective, recording under the name Providence and guesting on tracks like ‘Rock the Party’ before joining him in Duppy Gun operations. The Showcase EP marks his first big artistic statement as a solo vocalist before he embarks on another collaborative EP in 2022 with I Jahbar sharing vocal duties (also produced by Seekersinternational).

boomkat: ...NPLGNN comes gnashing at the bit for Bristol’s Lava Lava label - a part of the rwdfwd fam - with a mean volley of acid dancehall punk entitled Sonico. Arriving in the wide-eyed wake his Eternal Flame session with Dave Saved and turns with Reel Torque and Where To Now? before that, NPLGNN shows a more rugged and hot-stepping side of his sound that we haven’t heard before.A-side keels in with the gully dancehall slosh of Weaponized Riddim, whipping desiccated claps, kicks and snares into a militant bogle built for extreme daggering - come test! - whereas Dancing Under CS works with a crankier budge, spitting double timed hi-hats and slaty AF bass hits like a rogue Itinerant Dubs workout. B-side is where it really boots off with Sonic Guerrilla, an intensifying payload of squat party raggamuffin noise that seethes with pure malific rave intent. RWD-FWD: ...“This cassette is a re release of a 2 track cassette Reducer gave away to the 1st 23 punters through the door at our 2nd gig in 1985.We have added 2 other tracks from the same recording session because we are lovely people who wish to share enlightenment.Other than that this cassette appears as it did back then.At the beginning of Reducer we had no equipment of our own, so used what was available in the “back room” 4 track cassette recording home studios, we could just afford.These 4 tracks are the first ever recorded by Reducer – the then 3 members all playing the same synthesizer at the same time whilst tape loops ran alongside, and/or one of us playing bells & flutes, whilst the other two played the synth, all tracks are recorded live with no overdubs.This simple but extremely effective way of getting an un rehearsed spontaneity into our work proved to us we had an understanding & empathy that would go on to become the fully fledged Reducer.”
