Various - 10 Years of Butter Sessions - Disc Two | Butter Sessions (BSRTEN2)

Butter Sessions: ...Naarm (Melbourne) based collective Butter Sessions celebrate over a decade in business with an extensive glossary of talented friends and affiliates pressed on a three-part compilation series. The label has always held the community closest, as exemplified by the 20+ artists featured over the three releases. Each 12” presents a grand soundscape anchored into the tenebrous energy of the dancefloor, with its inquisitive electronics and fierce pulse. If there was a definition for the Butter Sessions sound of ten years in the making, the answer lies here.

Cale Sexton’s Mania unlocks volume two before handing things over to Roza Terenzi with Lava Flow, with both pieces showcasing oscillating euphonic electro. Mousse steps in flaunting the catchy acid stained You’re In Belgium, interweaving spoken word with his trademark mantra delivery. Tornado Wallace wields smooth dnb in Satellite whilst French duo Nummer fly high in cosmic and esoteric electronica with Clouds. Polito return to the label with their signature freeform techno, bestowing Divine Obsolescence. To sign off, Potatoheadz Records Sam Sedgewick makes his debut on the label with Affluent Intelligence, demonstrating crunchy padwork and volatile synth loops.

U-Trax: ... With his first release as EBM outfit Voltage Control on Antler Subway in 1989, Utrecht-based Arno Peeters can easily be considered one of the Dutch Dance pioneers.Influenced by hip hop, electro and acid house, and his uncontrollable urge to experiment, he moved on to produce techno. Disappointed by the genre’s conventions, he rather suddenly stopped with dance music altogether around 1995, letting a wealth of DATs with unreleased material collect dust in his studio. To our great pleasure, U-TRAX was allowed to pick some nuggets from these archives, resulting in this Titanic EP and an album later this year.
hellosQuare: ...Pushing further than his initial beat scene influences with a sharp focus on strong songwriting, LP's marriage of punchy edits and sonic detail weave the analog melodies and sampled sounds around the structures to create a beautifully textured production.Conceived and recorded in various spaces around Canberra before being brought to life by guitar'n'glitch musician Reuben Ingall, LP also features the saxophone sounds of free improvisor Andrew Fedorovitch (Splinter Orchestra) while label boss Shoeb Ahmad provides vinyl textures and additional production across the record.
