The Soul Surfers Present: Igor & Romeo's - Sound Excitement | Ubiquity (URLP404)

After meeting and working with Janko Nilovic - the extraordinary French library maestro - on a new album, while traveling and performing together around the world for almost 10 years, Igor Zhukovsky & Romeo Miussky - the multi-instrumentalist production duo, and rhythm core of The Soul Surfers - were inspired to make a record of free, spiritual, esoteric sounds which blended together on tape and made Sound Excitement happen.

Drawing on their experience as soundtrack composers and using heavyweight Soviet analog equipment, including a few vintage personal instruments belonging to some legends of the Soviet leftfield music scene, Igor & Romeo started experimenting with genre-blending music. The outcome of their recordings are a mixed bag of different moods and genres.

“It's something similar to a library record or more like a compilation of many different library records on one LP for a good decade if you know what I mean? It's the work which we're really excited about and excited to share with you! ...oh that's hell of a wordplay!"- I. Zhukovsky

Limited Edition Purple Vinyl. Only 300 copies!Existing in the liminal space between Bon Iver, James Blake, and Imogean Heap, "Beamorose" builds upon the signature shapeshifting vocals of Penelope Antena (heir to the famed synthpop band Antena and Marc Moulin's "Placebo") by twisting Americana, Gospel, and Folk through a Kaleidoscopic lens, crafting a unique & soulful form of Avant-Pop.Penelope Antena is the heiress to a musical legacy of mythical stature, living and creating on a mountaintop in the Occitanie region of southern France. Her grandfather, Belgian pianist and Jazz-Rock Pioneer Marc Moulin (Placebo, Telex, Aksak Maboul) and mother, founding member of the 80s electro-samba group Antena, Isabelle Powaga, played a tremendous role in supporting and inspiring Penelope to shine in the shadow of their creative heritage.
On the album Shadow Dancing (originally released in 1985), you can hear the musical versatility only an artist like Azar Lawrence can deliver. Next to his trademark jazz sound, this album is filled with funk, soul and boogie influences. If you’re looking for THE perfect mix of synth filled boogie & jazz-funk where the Sax takes the center stage…then this is a highly recommended gem for your record collection (and a must-have for seekers of rare grooves). Also featured on these recordings are some serious all-star guest musicians from the likes of Oren Waters (Herbie Hancock, Curtis Mayfield), Roy Galloway (Jimmy Cliff, Gladys Knight), Fred Johnson (The Temptations, George Clinton), James Gadson (Bill Withers, Quincy Jones), Leo Nocentelli (The Meters, Maceo Parker), Marlo Henderson (Gil Scott-Heron, Ahmad Jamal), Denzil Miller (Kurtis Blow, Diana Ross) and Eddie Brown (Stevie Wonder, Dennis Coffey).Tidal Waves Music proudly presents the FIRST ever vinyl reissue of this fantastic album (originally released in 1985 on Riza Records). This rare record (original copies tend to go for large amounts on the secondary market) is now finally back available as a limited 180g vinyl edition (500 copies) complete with the original artwork.
Formed in Oakland in the early 1970s, the Sons and Daughters of Lite recorded Let The Sun Shine In, their only LP, which has now achieved holy grail status among collectors.Let The Sun Shine In is a spiritual recording filled with soul, funk, jazz, and African percussion. The musical collective described themselves as a mix of African rhythms, Latin flavors, and Far Eastern textures. This album was virtually unknown to DJs and collectors until Michael McFadin's discovery in the late 80s. He then scoured the bay area and bought up multiple copies for his record store The Groove Merchant on Haight Street in San Francisco, many of which were bought from flea markets and the dollar bins of other shops. The outrageously funky title track became a jazz dance classic, courtesy of heavy radio and club play by top UK DJ and tastemaker Gilles Peterson.
The third installment of the Baast album series "Trident" sees the band heading into the direction of electronic soundscapes, delving deeper into soundtrack and ambient textures more so than previous albums "Dimension" and "Bazaar".R. Scott Dibble and the inimitable DJ Johnny Basil remain at the helm with a round of uber talented guest artists who've contributed in the past along with some new players, heavy on talent but even more so on the vibe that's captured in the recordings.
P-Vine: ...A true rare board that is not only rare, but also has perfect quality! A masterpiece of the soul vocal group from Kansas City (recorded in Chicago), a land where it is hard to say that soul music was booming in 1976. The only album released by Smoke on a label called J. Bridge, a quartet that includes Larry Brown, who was also on Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, and Marva Whitney's younger brother Melvin Manning. The reissue LP of P-Vine in 1996 is also rising, and the LP reissue of the same work again. After all, in addition to the wonderful ballad "I'm So Lonely" that exceeds 8 minutes, the medium that seems to be from Chicago is also the best. Amacha soul fan super must!
