Reflecting on great leaders and great bands and what makes them essential; there is not too much more that On-Ly has considered for Wonderlust. Distinct in that it inaugurates his first release with a band. The album takes on a facilitating role in the style of great psychedelic albums as one finds themselves at the whimsy of through-composed pilgrimages to soft, heartfelt song and back to sun-soaked heights woven with engaging arrangement, a one-of-a-kind production style and an incredible pedigree of musicianship.

All tracks composed and arranged by Joshua Smeltink.

David Versace is an Australian multi-genre keyboardist, composer and producer based in Meanjin, Queensland. Growing up in a very musical household it was always important to express and embrace all types of music and sonics. His sound ranges from Jazz and Samba to ambient works and the odd dance-floor heater. David also plays in Meanjin nu-jazz dance outfit First Beige.
This genuinely organic album, Godtet, recorded live in Studios 301, Alexandria, Sydney in 2016 is repressed for the first time in six years on the La Sape label. It celebrates the meditative potency of the (just over or under) two-minute track that begins, like 'Arp' or 'Hahahhaha', as ambient exploratory rhythmical waves leading into sounds to come. Like 'Hekkaz' where Tully Ryan and Dominic Kirk's percussive poundings and slappings pleasurably alert the listener to the more luxurious melodic mixture of Andrew Bruce's keys with Godrigues' lamenting guitar, playing harmonious echoey expressive beats. Here, one of the many stand out tracks 'Ensueo' is only matched by the even more groovy and halting 'Comedy', bassline by Jan Bangma. Recorded and produced by Godriguez and Jack Prest who also mixed and mastered this conceptual adventure into the world of rhythm and reverb where John Martyn meets Alfa Mist, Godtet lovingly foregrounds each band member's singularity, culminating in the exceptional self-titled final piece. A must for those who love a late-night listening session over and over again.
From On-Ly on Yurodivy:The provenant concept of Yurodivy is: through madness, one paints the madness of the world. Russia became the looking-glass for lessons not for the historical content but for how that content was preserved - against all odds - by citizens; vanguards of history immersed in-madness creating art both as reprieve and as dissenting corroboration of a repressed citizen. Shostakovich's stories - his music - resonate with folks in a certain way; folks of this time and folks of that time. Anna Ahkmatova, Vladimir Mayakovsky and Nikolai Gogol - their words create a shroud for which to protect oneself. Our ancestors of Earth have things they can teach us about that time - our time. The intellectualism and cryptology of Russian musical and artistic expression is an endless journey into some of our planet's greatest minds and Yurodivy is about honouring them, their memories and their struggles but most of all their unbelievable zeal in preserving their expression in parallel with their experience at a time when heresy toward their conditions of fascism - to tell the truth - meant death.
