Sheriff Lindo - Aftershock Dubs | EM Records (EM1122CD)

EM Records: ...EM Records is proud to present the first new album release in 25 years from Australia's Sheriff Lindo, dubmaster of the Southern Hemisphere. His Ten Dubs That Shook The World [EM1119CD/LP], released in 1988, has been growing in stature since its release, supported by its re-issue on EM Records, and in the meantime the Sheriff has been working steadily, deep-local style, honing his skills with the Australian sound systems Firehouse Sound and Earthlink Sound. The tracks on Aftershock Dubs, recorded between 1990 and 2005, while never officially released, have been played as dub plates at sound system parties, proved movers, tested in the heat of action. Recorded at Lindo's 4/5 Studios, these specials were chosen by Japanese sound system savants Takuto Kuratani (Ruv Bytes) and Atsushi Muneshige (Touch the Sky/Corner Stone Music) from a cornucopia of goodness supplied by Sheriff Lindo, mastered by Kuratani for maximum impact. EM Records' first-ever Dancehall release is available on vinyl and CD, with two bonus tracks on the CD. One track features the vocals of Ras Roni; all tracks feature the experience-forged Dub sense of the Sheriff. More than a quarter-century of love, knowledge and soul-science has been distilled here. Don't miss it.

boomkat: ...NPLGNN comes gnashing at the bit for Bristol’s Lava Lava label - a part of the rwdfwd fam - with a mean volley of acid dancehall punk entitled Sonico. Arriving in the wide-eyed wake his Eternal Flame session with Dave Saved and turns with Reel Torque and Where To Now? before that, NPLGNN shows a more rugged and hot-stepping side of his sound that we haven’t heard before.A-side keels in with the gully dancehall slosh of Weaponized Riddim, whipping desiccated claps, kicks and snares into a militant bogle built for extreme daggering - come test! - whereas Dancing Under CS works with a crankier budge, spitting double timed hi-hats and slaty AF bass hits like a rogue Itinerant Dubs workout. B-side is where it really boots off with Sonic Guerrilla, an intensifying payload of squat party raggamuffin noise that seethes with pure malific rave intent. Play this at your next rave/rally/protest to increase the pressure.Big RIYL The Bug, Ossia, DJ Scud

RWD-FWD: ...After teasing out a handful of Test Pressings at the end of last year, it is now time for the full drop of the G36 bomb on Hotline Recordings. It’s been a hot minute since the last release dropped on the Hotline, but we're back now with two ultra-gully, ultra-heavyweight dystopian steppers cuts from mysterious anarcho-dub-punks out of Japan – G36.Last seen on The Bug’s PRESSURE label, producing riddims for Nazamba and unleashing another deadly 12″ of their own – this is their most devastating pair of traxx yet…No Escape rings off natty Sleng Teng memories via Blade Runner futurism and 10tonne bassbin war cries… Black Mass is the lonesome street sweeper post nuclear war – no mercy, no survivors.Absolutely tough soundsystem gear, probably the loudest plate on the label yet -if you like the sounds of The Bug, Emptyset, Loefah, Iration Steppas, Aba Shanti-I, TNT Roots -Then this will feel good to you.
