hellosQuare: ...Recorded while overseas and waiting in the wings for just over a year, this talented Australian duo create a world of deep sound, founded on a base of acoustic instrumentation (the aformentioned saxophone along with gongs and percussion) and rewired with live processes. Touching on elements of noise music as well as improvised jazz and glitch electronics in it's aural palette, Circuitous is a must for lovers of musique concrete and dark ambient/doom drone.

from Peter Knight (http://peterknightmusic.com/): ...A collaborative project from Melbourne Australia co-led by singer-songwriter Paddy Mann of legendary Melbourne alt-folk group, Grand Salvo, and progressive composer, sound artist, trumpeter, Peter Knight (Artistic Director of the Australian Art Orchestra). Featuring leading experimental/new jazz musicians: Erik Griswold prepared piano and toy piano, Vanessa Tomlinson percussion, Andrew Brooks saxophone, Joe Talia drums/Revox B77.This is music that is impossible to categorise: strange but accessible, abstracted but also melodic. Music that exists in the meeting point between folk-pop and nu-jazz/improv/sound art…
hellosQuare: ...Agency's stream of consciousness art-punk might seem miles away from their previous and parallel bands - A Drone Coda, Hoodlum Shouts and Spartak - but the influences that have always been in the background come to the fore with this piece of power pop in the style of Husker Dü and The Stooges on this debut single. On the flipside, Assad (Ben Andrews from My Disco/Agents Of Abhorrence) pulls apart an Agency instrumental and sets it adrift in a wash of Islamic prayer calls and Jakarta street sounds.
hellosQuare: ...Pushing further than his initial beat scene influences with a sharp focus on strong songwriting, LP's marriage of punchy edits and sonic detail weave the analog melodies and sampled sounds around the structures to create a beautifully textured production.Conceived and recorded in various spaces around Canberra before being brought to life by guitar'n'glitch musician Reuben Ingall, LP also features the saxophone sounds of free improvisor Andrew Fedorovitch (Splinter Orchestra) while label boss Shoeb Ahmad provides vinyl textures and additional production across the record.
hellosQuare: ...Introduced to one another by Jan Bang at Punkt Festival 2015, Australian trumpeter Ben Marston and Norwegian sound artist Simen Løvgren deliver In Walked Pris, a depiction of darkness and desolation in the wild. Recalling the the fourth-world odysseys of Jon Hassell and Pan Sonic's minimal impulses, Marston and Løvgren wrangle sine tone airwaves and electrical disruptions in these fierce storms of sound, leaving us with what remains - two brutal yet tactile morsels of sound smeared over two sides of wax.
hellosQuare: ...hellosQuare welcomes Kasha into our family with 'What A Colourful Mouth' - their second release and first on vinyl. Recorded and mixed with our good friend Casey Rice (Dirty Three, Pikelet, Ben Lee), this single see the young Canberra quartet rework the traditional notion of rock music, approaching tension and repetition with dissonance and metric imbalance - think Motor City, think DC, think electricity!
