Scrnxxxshdw: ...Screen Shadow is an amorphous presence slithering through electronic music’s dark, jagged and dreamy corridors. Emerging this January with a duo of debut EPs, Black (Vegan Tinder Lord) and White (Hexxex) , the shadowy project blends pummelling techno, industrial grit and experimental noise for a mood-spanning sound inspired by everything from Google Street View to visiting the dentist. The Black EP gleans from the heavier end of the club music spectrum, plunging into a hardcore well of nosebleed kicks and synapse-frying synths that bang with raw dancefloor energy. The White EP pauses for reflection, transforming Screen Shadow’s spiky reveries into tightly-woven technicolor dreamscapes.
Mona Steinwidder is Museum of No Art; an experiment in traces of sounds, empty space and playful ritual. Samplers, synths and airy vocal samples leave ‘space in all directions,’ carving structure out of light memory and leaving the listener with plentiful room for breath within the museum's expansive, inverted white walls. The intention behind the album, Steinwidder states, was to deepen her intuitive practice and build a meditative playground with infinite potential. The Hamburg artist has worked under pseudonym Mohna (Me Succeeds), and in collaboration with composer, Alexander Schubert and electronic producer Christian Löffler (Germany); catalyzing this multi-modal approach, a refreshed, quiet sound developed over six months of heavy experimentation in Vienna. The Museum emerges from ‘La Grotta,’ where bio-illumined wormy synths make an ascending haste; lighting up the four walls, playing with resonant drums bouncing off stalactites. Track 5, ‘Form and Focus’ invites delayed wind melodies and sawwy pads in glorious painterly drone. Throughout the LP, Mona’s airy sampled vocals enter in ritualistic repetition, in offering, clarity. Absolute must for daytime dreaming, introspection and relief. - (ioki)
‘Yes Doctor’ is the debut LP from Henry Hicks AKA Horatio Luna. The eclectic Melbourne shape-shifter solidifies his place within ‘house music’ on Yes Doctor as Dub, Jazz & Bruk bleed into one another - stretching further the thread that binds one to the other whilst mapping and exploring the space between. From Horatio:"I have always played music that is a fusion of styles and as ‘Horatio Luna’ I always want there to be a connection to House music. I was exploring the parallels between every style I could think of and mixing it with house. I was pushing aesthetic boundaries, things I felt I hadn’t heard before, searching for new music, 'Not box-able music'. Yes Doctor is a coming of age record. I was pushing myself to the limit musically and challenging myself in every aspect of life".
From Godriguez:Meditations is GODTET diving into our own minds, journeying together, by ourselves to where we wanted at the time to go.. There was a definite sense of wanting to abandon (albeit all unspoken) any of GODTET’s previous vibes and any other musical contexts we all often exist in. It is definitely a world where we, the musicians, can create a starting point and see where our minds take us. We wait either for ourselves or each other to see where we’d like to journey (or not journey) at all and be happy to sit put in one place for a while. The Meditations are almost a reaction; A protest? - To having to do the normal thing as musicians we’re expected to do (Make a big good exciting thing now!) If anything it's a blueprint for the future of the GODTET “sound”, it is to be unexpected. “Expect the unexpected” is quite the cliche yet it’s probably the most fitting for what I foresee the GODTET future as sounding. Unbound by any expectations or contexts or having to repeatedly play music in any certain way - it feels almost like a manifestation of our freedom and personal agent to not be beholden to anything as musicians.Meditations is the most open statement and platform GODTET has produced to date. Wiping the slate clean, this erasure allows us infinite possibilities.. Anywhere and everywhere to go from here... To be definable or restricted is the antithesis of what GODTET is about. GODTET PLAYS FOR ITSELF. Our own curiosity, pleasure, introspection, play, ourselves.
