Mind Dance return with the second volume in their ‘Mystic Minds’ VA series. Launched last year as a way to continue the strong collaborative nature of the electronic music underground, each installment will shine a light on local Australian talent and their cross-continental contemporaries.Continuing this mission with a new batch of friends, family and former label mates in tow, round two rallies six artists from home soil and overseas for another deep excursion into the vast expanses of dance music. From across the pond we have Dutch producer and Music From Memory regular Dazion who kicks off the VA with a wonky slice of rhythmic downtempo, and Phran, a Barcelona-based artist and member of IVAN - a duo alongside Ivy Barkakati - who puts his foot on the gas with a stomping techno cut.Closer to home we have Aussie dance veteran and the man behind Mind Dance’s last release, Andy Rantzen, deliver a tight bleep-soaked acid jam, followed by Leo James and Mousse flying the flag for Melbourne with twinkling IDM and laid-back vocal house, respectively. Finally label boss Furious Frank closes out proceedings with a downbeat percussive house number to usher in summer, if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere that is...
‘Furious Frank – Wavepool', offers up four emotive, yet unique, club cuts. Including a proggy remix of the A1 by NZ’s own Eden Burns, which skillfully weaves between energetic perc build ups, catchy vocal synths and indulgent chords.Art & design by Studio Vinciguerra.Mastered by Carsten Dämbkes.
Acid house at its finest - SJ Tequilla style!A fun, fresh and ~ freaky ~ record that will NOT leave your record bag... Originally hailing from Japan but currently living Berlin, SJT is known far and wide for his Teknobuskers project, a hardware DIY dance party hosted with friends and held regularly in 'Max-Koch-Passage’, Berlin. The energy from these dance parties can be felt and lived through his latest ep, ‘GG Allien’.SJT’s skilful use of mind melting background tape textures and moody pads provide the encapsulating canvas for otherworldly acid lines, driving hardware percussion and enlightening melodies. An ep primed to transcend the listener to a place of communal acidic dance appreciation.
Often spotted about town, it’s no secret that JCow is diligently, quietly (and not so quietly) crafting big tunes. This release is the sound of that inevitable 2020’s shut-in inspiration. Written during those periods, they are finally seeing the light of day. With focused time in the studio, some serious imagined musical landscapes are the result. Tracks designed for dance-floor breakouts and closed-eye catharsis. We’ve heard these tracks come a long way from inception. Cerebral and kinetic, each track has a unique character, functional yet bound to stand out in any set.Tracks like ‘a complex range of human emojis’ pay-no-mind in referencing the past with a sly smirk and an updated twist, while the title track ‘in my elem3nt7’ conjures up a certain mystical environment - The tracks bold narrative shift midway is a notable payoff. Swerving boldly into new territory, the percussive motifs fade and return from new angles, sounds cutting and slicing through the speaker like angelic machine gun fire. The drum programming is truly used like a weapon on this one, with those majestic horn samples like calls from the ether.Exaels ‘swampbuggy’ reworking of title track on the B2 provides the perfect alternate universe, working its way from a sparse ambience into an inspired IDM-leaning breakbeat epilogue.
Production duo Dj Dogg and Furious Frank are back with the third edition of their series… this time in full remix treatment! While keeping in line with their signature underground raw house style, volume three explores some new sounds for the series, including vocal cuts, euphoric early trance melodies, big bass and more.
